Digital Documentation of Omani Architectural Heritage

Field documentation, HBIM and digital archiving of three historic Omani houses.

Digital Documentation of Omani Architectural Heritage

Dr. Marjan Ilbeigi contributed to a multidisciplinary research initiative at Sultan Qaboos University focused on the documentation and preservation of Omani architectural heritage. Her work formed part of a wider programme exploring how architectural and cultural information can be recorded and organised for future research and conservation.

The work included three historic houses: Bait Al Maqham, Bait Al Numan, and Bait Al Sarooj. It considered how documentation of historic buildings can support the understanding of traditional spatial arrangements, construction, and the relationship between architecture and its surroundings.

The wider initiative explores digital documentation methods, Heritage Building Information Modelling (HBIM), and digital archiving as tools for making heritage information more accessible and useful over time.
